It takes each of us working individually to change the culture of the organizations that we work for. Whether a company of 3, 50, 700 or 5000, culture comes from individuals, not some removed, untouchable place far away.
Merlin Mann talked about meeting culture in episode 115 of Back to Work. Listen to it, it’s one of their better episodes in a while. If you don’t have time listen, at least check out the show notes. There are quite a few great ideas for improving meetings.
Meetings are challenging because they take a lot of time, coordination and (if done properly) planning. At my workplace, improving meetings has been a regular topic for a while and we’ve improved, but still have a long way to go.
I think the most important thing to remember is that it’s up to each person to be constructive and create change. I'm going to commit to that.
